Job Title: Service Technical Support Specialist, Expert - Must have experience working in a Calibration Lab.
Location: El Segundo, CA
Schedule: Day shift, Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
Duration: 2-yr Contract
Pay Rate: $35 - $55 per hour

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Service Technical Support Specialist (Calibration) to support calibration operations within a high-level technical laboratory environment. This role focuses on the calibration of high power, high current, and high voltage equipment, as well as a wide range of electronic test and measurement instruments. This is a long-term contract opportunity supporting a global services organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Calibrate high-power AC/DC power supplies, electronic loads, DC shunts, and power resistors
  • Work with high-energy systems (up to ~20 kW, 1 kA, and 6 kV)
  • Calibrate multi-vendor equipment including oscilloscopes, DMMs, and RF/microwave instruments
  • Follow lab procedures, ensure NIST traceability, and support audits/compliance
  • Adhere to strict safety protocols (high voltage/current, LOTO)
  • Document calibration results and maintain quality standards
  • Support process improvements and automation initiatives

Required Skills and Experience

  • Experience working in accredited calibration laboratories
  • 8-10+ years of calibration experience in a lab environment
  • Strong experience with high-power, high-current, and high-voltage systems
  • Hands-on experience with electronic test & measurement equipment (multi-vendor)
  • Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025, ANSI/NCSL Z540, FDA QSR, ISO 13485
  • Experience in regulated environments (biomedical, aerospace, defense) preferred
  • Familiarity with LabVIEW, MetCal, Python, VBA, NI platforms (NI-CAL EXEC, SureCal)
  • Technical exposure to RF/microwave, electrical (DMMs, oscilloscopes), and ideally thermodynamic, pressure, or dimensional calibration
  • Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent experience
