The Position:
The Pattern & Tool Finisher is responsible for performing finishing, assembly, and modification of tooling and prototype patterns according to project specifications and established procedures. This role requires proficiency in a variety of fabrication techniques including sanding, painting, carpentry, and rigging modifications.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform all duties in a safe and responsible manner, adhering to safety protocols.
- Sand and finish tooling to meet final specifications and quality standards.
- Apply paint using spray guns and power equipment, ensuring proper coverage and finish.
- Perform carpentry tasks using hand and power tools for tooling modifications or support structures.
- Install frames, cleats, and trunnions as needed for prototype pattern tooling.
- Modify tooling and rigging as required, based on project changes or feedback.
- Maintain a high level of competency and proficiency with all tools, materials, and processes used.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Pattern Work Instructions meticulously.
- Meet project deadlines, proactively communicating delivery updates or potential delays to the Project Manager and Team Lead.
- Complete work efficiently, aligning with the estimated hours and material usage quoted for the job.
- Promptly report issues or concerns to the Team Lead.
- Follow all instructions provided by management and the Team Lead, including SOPs and specific task directives.
Education & Experience Requirements:
Minimum Education: High School Diploma, GED, or combined education & work experience equivalent
Minimum Skills & requirements: Able to multi-task, cross train on multiple duties within the group or as needed elsewhere, team player, self-motivated worker. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the above tasks.
Preferred areas of experience: #1 In sand cast & mold assembly, #2 with Mold prep and maintenance, #3 Painting - sand cast industry, automotive or air-powered booth painting, #4 Carpentry- hand & power tools, blueprint reading a plus.
Functional Requirements
Consistently able to:
- Manually lift and move product and materials up to 55 lbs. through regular physical exertion, including but not limited to reach forward, reach overhead, lift, carry, crouch and bend.
- Power grip and wrist turn, including the use of hand tools and/or steering for truck.
- Walk, sit or stand for up to 12 hours with intermittent breaks.
- Push / pull 100lbs.
- See, inspect, and evaluate product quality
- Read and understand written work instructions in English
- Work in a non-climate controlled environment, including hot and humid conditions.
- Walk up and down steps
- Climb ladders and stairs of varying height
- Wear task-based Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Protective Footwear;
- Hearing Protection
- Protective Eyewear
- Gloves
- Additional PPE may as required by specific tasks
