Job DescriptionDescription:

(MUST BE ABLE TO READ COMPLEX ENGINEERED FABRICATION BLUEPRINTS)

Specializes in assembling steel components, steel structures, and other large steel frameworks according to blueprint specifications.

· Must be able to read and interpret complex heavy steel fabrication blueprints.

· Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits together fabricated parts of structural metal products in shop, according to blueprint and layout specifications, preparatory to welding or riveting.

· Plans sequence of operation, applying knowledge of geometry, effects of heat, and allowances for weld shrinkage, machining, and thickness of metal.

Supervision: Works under immediate supervision. Typically reports to a supervisor/manager.

Education: May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with 2 - 5+ years of experience in the field or in a related area.
