Summary Description
Under supervision of the Safety Director, this position provides support for the Safety Department and assists with the development and implementation of the Company safety, health, and training programs.
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
- Complies with and ensures compliance with all Tri-M safety, substance abuse prevention, and employment policies and procedures.
- Complies with and ensures compliance with Tri-Ms standards of conduct and appearance to reflect positively on the Company.
- Serves as the Secretary on the Safety Committee
- Assist in developing monthly Toolbox Talks
- Helps Administer the Safety Management Application, KPA Flex
- Supports the substance abuse prevention program including scheduling, testing, distributing screening notices and compliance tracking. Provides prompt notification to management of problems and/or discrepancies.
- Maintain and process annual/bi-annual MVR updates.
- Provide prompt notification of incidents.
- Maintain the DOT physical program
- Maintain compliant DOT files
- Ensure timely input of all safety related information into the HRIS and Safety Management system including MVRs, discipline, drug and other data.
- Distribute safety supplies, tools, and provide to field operations as needed or requested.
- Assist in analyzing safety data to coordinate the safety effort for continual improvement
- Work to ensure accurate information is entered into 3rd party verification sites, in a timely manner.
- Coordinate and implement safety training to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Delivery of Company Safety Orientation
- Assist in identifying, documenting and recommending resolution of hazardous/potentially hazardous conditions; follow through to ensure corrections have been made.
- Assist with driver safety program; coach drivers as needed and identify trends in policy violations to the attention of the Safety Director.
- Serves as resource to field employees by answering questions and visiting job sites when required.
- Completes field site safety audits as needed.
Job Requirements
Skills/Education:
- Four-year occupational safety/health degree, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of One to three to years experience in safety, construction safety, or general industry safety practices preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Mastery of Microsoft Office products.
- Excellent computer literacy.
- Stays abreast of regulatory requirements and changes within the industry.
- Ability to handle and maintain confidential information.
- Good organizational skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize meeting deadlines.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to multi-task various job responsibilities simultaneously.
- Awareness and understanding of applicable federal, state and local regulations for the construction industry.
- Ability to recognize hazards and recommend corrective action
Physical Requirements:
- Working 40 hours/week, scheduled in 8-to-10-hour shifts
- Vision adequate for daily and consistent computer use and reading
- Sitting 6-to-8 hours/day
- Lifting weights of 0 to 30 lbs. from floor to above shoulders
- Repetitive use of hands for writing, typing, data entry
