SHIFT: The schedule includes 1st shift hours from 6am-2:30pm or 7am-3:30pm with rotating weekends

MUST HAVE

  • Associate degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
  • ASCP or AMT certification as a Medical Lab Technician.
  • Experience in clinical laboratory testing.
  • Proficiency in laboratory information systems.
  • Attention to detail and strong communication skills.
  • Experience in Chemistry Hospital Lab/Clinical Chemistry.
  • Experience in hematology, clinical chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, or microscopy.
  • Ability to operate and maintain laboratory instruments.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Medical Laboratory Technician to join our fast-paced inpatient lab team. The role involves determining the acceptability of specimens for testing, performing both routine and complex technical procedures, and ensuring the proper functionality of laboratory instrumentation. You will contribute to quality patient care by delivering accurate and timely test results.

Responsibilities

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures according to departmental SOPs.
  • Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation.
  • Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving.
  • Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
  • Report accurate and timely test results.
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
  • Maintain and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
  • Assist with the processing of specimens when needed.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

Work Environment

The position is located at a large hospital lab, serving as the central lab for all inpatient samples. It is a fast-paced, high-throughput environment with a variety of samples and tests conducted. The schedule includes 1st shift hours from 6am-2:30pm or 7am-3:30pm with rotating weekends. The contract duration is initially set for 3 months, with the potential for extension. The role offers a strong team environment and opportunities for growth and movement into different departments.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Portland, OR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.15/hr.
