Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Distribution and Production Manager to lead and manage fabrication and warehouse distribution activities across our facility. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for meeting customer expectations, driving operational performance, and maintaining strong relationships with team members, customer contacts, logistics partners, and vendors.
Core Responsibilities
- Maintain 100% commitment to safety policies and procedures.
- Plan, organize, direct, and evaluate all fabrication and warehouse distribution activities including inventory management of raw materials, scheduling of daily production parts, and maintenance of daily work orders for kitting and light assembly jobs.
- Lead a team of production and distribution associates, including training, setting expectations and daily objectives, and holding team members accountable for performance.
- Motivate, coach, and mentor all team members to foster a positive and proactive team-oriented culture.
- Oversee selection, development, and performance assessment of direct reports.
- Execute business plan objectives by working proactively with the management team.
- Develop key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of operations.
- Monitor and maintain on-time delivery goals as set by local management.
- Develop, communicate, and enforce policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Identify and implement plant operations system improvements by analyzing process workflow, equipment, and operational requirements.
- Manage freight forwarding both domestic and international (UPS, FedEx, DHL, etc.) and oversee export/import documentation.
- Leverage ERP and WMS platforms to run internal business reports and make data-driven operational recommendations.
- Some limited travel required.
Required Background
- Minimum 5+ years of full employee lifecycle managerial experience in a fabrication or distribution center.
- 7+ years of warehousing or production experience in an industrial setting.
- Proven experience implementing warehouse and production process improvements and change management initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP platforms, and HRIS business systems.
- Expertise in freight forwarding (domestic and international) and export/import documentation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and video conferencing tools.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with a track record of holding staff accountable to KPIs and timelines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong decision-making and problem-solving ability.
- BS degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Regular use of computer and mouse.
