Family Nurse Practitioner
Location: Marion, Ohio
Schedule: Weekday schedule aligned with academic calendar. Full-Time.
We are seeking a compassionate and mission-driven Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) to join a School-Based Health Center serving elementary through high school students. This role provides comprehensive primary care services within the school setting, increasing access to care in a safe, convenient environment that supports both student wellness and academic success.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive primary care to students (typically ages 5–18)
- Assess, diagnose, and treat acute illnesses and minor injuries
- Manage chronic conditions such as asthma, ADHD, and diabetes
- Perform routine physical exams (annual, sports, school-entry)
- Prescribe medications and monitor treatment plans
- Perform basic in-office procedures (wound care, throat cultures, point-of-care testing)
- Administer immunizations per CDC and state guidelines
- Conduct screenings (vision, hearing, BMI, depression, substance use)
- Provide health education and anticipatory guidance
- Support reproductive and sexual health services (as permitted by state law)
- Identify and refer students with behavioral or mental health needs
- Collaborate with counselors and behavioral health providers
- Communicate with parents/guardians regarding treatment plans
- Coordinate referrals to primary care providers and specialists
- Collaborate with school nurses and administrators on student health plans
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings as needed
- Maintain accurate documentation in the EHR
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, FERPA, and state regulations
- Follow consent and confidentiality laws related to minors
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
Required
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)
- Graduate of an accredited Family Nurse Practitioner program
- National board certification as an FNP
- Active, unrestricted Ohio RN and APRN license
- Prescriptive authority and DEA registration
- Current BLS certification
Preferred
- Experience in pediatrics, adolescent medicine, school-based, or community health
- Experience working with underserved or diverse populations
- Bilingual skills relevant to community served
- Training in trauma-informed care
