ROLE
We need an experienced Records Management at GAO (Government Accountability Office). GAO is an independent, legislative branch agency that assists Congress through audits, evaluations, and investigations of federal programs/ The records & Privacy (R&P) department withing GAO preserves organizational knowledge and enforces recordkeeping policies and standards. In this role, you will support searching, maintenance, and retrieval; implement policies and compliance; collaborate across departments; provide training support; and assist implementation of electronic document management systems. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with agency-wide records inventory and file plan creation to ensure program records are identified, scheduled, and maintained per retention schedules
- Support storage/maintenance on share drives and systems; identify POCs for migration, transfer, and destruction
- Classify and index file materials; conduct and reconcile inventories; perform word processing and data entry; enter/retrieve database information
- Support appraisal activities to identify new series and adjust retentions; assist with archival value determinations under GAO and NARA guidance
- Support digitization initiatives by maintaining tracking documents, monitoring milestones and deviations, performing QA, and saving meeting summaries with correct metadata
- Provide and assist delivery of enterprise and role-based training, policies, and how-to guides within required timelines; support Capstone Officials and bi-weekly new-employee orientations
- Follow supervision, scheduling, and on-site quality-control processes; participate in on-the-job and periodic training
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- 2+ years of experience related to developing or maintaining records for programs supporting the federal government
- Experience with drafting records management artifacts in accordance with National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) and/or GAO requirements
- Experience editing, drafting, and writing file plans, records inventories, records schedules
- Experience performing a wide variety of analytical studies and projects related to records management improvement, productivity, and records management controls.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in an information or business discipline – preferred

Specific vision abilities required by this job include the use of computer monitor screens up to 80% of the time.
