Reports To: Manager of Manufacturing Technology Development & Project Implementation

Location: Remote - preferably in California

FLSA Status: Exempt

Salary range: $80,000 - $115,000


POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a motivated and mechanically inclined individual to join our team as an Entry-Level Controls Service Technician. This role is ideal for someone looking to start a career in controls. The technician will assist in the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of control systems used in industrial and commercial environments such as: Cal Fire, Forrest Service, service bases for powder and liquid manufacturing plants.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the installation and setup of control panels and related equipment
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of electrical and control systems
  • Support senior technicians during service calls and scheduled maintenance
  • Document service activities and maintain accurate records
  • Learn and follow safety protocols and company procedures
  • Travel to customer sites as needed (local/regional)
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and service vehicle in good working condition.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb ladders or stairs
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted
  • Manual dexterity to operate hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
  • Visual acuity to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and computer screens
  • Occasional work in confined spaces or elevated areas
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection
  • Work is performed in a combination of shop, field, and customer site environments
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions when working outdoors
  • May be exposed to loud noises, dust, chemicals, and other industrial hazards
  • Travel required to customer locations, which may include overnight stays
  • Standard work hours with occasional overtime or weekend work depending on project needs

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or Trade School education in electrical or control systems (preferred).
  • Alternatively, 2–5 years of relevant industry experience without formal education.
  • Basic understanding of electrical components and wiring.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical manuals.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
