One of our clients, a well-established leader in sorghum and forage seed genetics, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to support their growing finance team. Position Summary
The Senior Accountant will play a vital role in managing the financial operations of the business, with a strong focus on inventory accounting, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic, agriculture-based environment and to support the company's continued growth and strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.

Manage accounts payable and receivable functions with accuracy and timeliness.

Conduct general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations.

Monitor cash flow and perform cash management activities.

Handle inventory accounting, including costs related to seed production and conditioning.

Assist in the preparation of regulatory reports and support audit and tax processes.

Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.

Process payroll and conduct technical account analysis as needed.

Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks; experience with Concur is a plus.

Partner with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights that inform business decisions.

Support ongoing process improvements and systems automation.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

At least 5 years of professional accounting experience (public or corporate).

Solid understanding of GAAP, double-entry bookkeeping, debits/credits, and compliance.

Experience with inventory or manufacturing-based accounting is highly preferred.

Proficient in QuickBooks and other ERP/accounting software.

Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Ability to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders.

Comfortable working in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment.
