Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology, active SLP license and 1+ year of Speech-Language Pathology experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A rewarding opportunity is available for a Speech-Language Pathologist to support students at a specialized private school serving children with significant cognitive disabilities and behavioral challenges. This year-round contract position is located in Queensbury, NY, approximately 45 minutes north of Albany.
The role involves working primarily with students who are non-verbal and use alternative communication methods (AAC). Many students also require support related to pediatric dysphagia and feeding needs. As a Speech-Language Pathologist, you will play an essential part in delivering tailored speech and communication therapy aimed at improving each students functional abilities and quality of life.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing speech and language evaluations and therapy interventions tailored to students with severe cognitive and communication challenges.
- Collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to support individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Utilizing augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) strategies to enhance communication and participation.
- Addressing pediatric dysphagia and feeding needs within the scope of practice.
- Maintaining detailed documentation and progress notes.
Qualifications and experience desired:
- NYS Teaching Certificate as a Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped (required).
- Experience or training in working with pediatric populations, particularly those with severe disabilities.
- Comfort and competence in AAC implementation and pediatric dysphagia.
- Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) Speech-Language Pathologists are encouraged to apply, as supervision is provided.
