Summary
The Senior Scientific Advisor will report to the VP of Scientific Affairs and is primarily responsible for establishing industry connections in the biotech & pharma space to support clinical specimen business growth and drive revenue, both in partnership with sales and independently. They will collaborate with marketing to develop scientific content to build brand awareness of BioIVT as scientific experts/thought leaders. This role will require an understanding multiple therapeutic areas including, but not limited to oncology, immunology, and neurology. As a subject matter expert, they will be accountable for educating clients to enhance their understanding of BioIVT’s disease state portfolio and support awareness through development of application-based content. As a matrix team member, the Senior Scientific Advisor will maintain close, formal engagement with Sales, Scientific Operations and Marketing to retain technical fluency and ensure appropriate sales enablement tools are available to enhance understanding of our clinical biospecimens capabilities and applications. This role is also responsible for raising internal awareness of new innovations and/or technologies, as well as areas of needed technical growth.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Take a leadership role in the personal ownership of the learner experience through customer consultation, discussion with thought leaders and collaboration with internal stakeholders.
· Establish a high level of technical credibility for BioIVT by developing and presenting application-focused seminars for clients, prospects, and at industry events.
· Support the revenue goals of the business unit through pro-active outreach to target client segments. Actively seek out scientist to scientist conversations that bring value to BioIVT and our clients.
· Build brand awareness and support lead generation by developing/authoring white papers, blogs, editorials, or other technical resources which align with marketing campaign objectives and promote the value of our clinical collections and related capabilities.
· Design and lead scientific projects including collaborations with external research partners or overseeing internal data collection and analysis, which serve to highlight BioIVT’s scientific expertise and thought leadership.
· Act in a consultative role, intellectualizing the clients' programmatic needs, pain points, initiatives, and relating them to a BioIVT solution that meets those needs. Openness to educate oneself on new emerging technologies or trends that align with the usage in our client base.
· Gather market intelligence and maintain knowledge base regarding regulations or emerging scientific trends to inform company strategy and new product initiatives.
· Identify Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and establish and maintain scientific relationships with KOLs.
· Participate in presentations and working groups affiliated with professional consortiums, conferences & meetings
Qualifications
· Advanced degree (MD, PhD, PharmD, or equivalent) in a scientific or healthcare-related field. MD preferred, but not required.
· 6+ years of experience in scientific affairs, medical communications, or related roles within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or medical device industry.
· Detailed knowledge of in vitro discovery and development cycles including both therapeutics and medical devices and the applications of biospecimens products within those areas.
· Possess a robust network of industry connections in biotech and pharma.
· Extraordinary client/service focus – ability to have a customer mindset, be genuinely interested in understanding and solving issues that are their priority.
· Innovative, self-starter, who enjoys thinking of new ways to get the job done.
· Demonstrated excellence in both written and oral communication skills with track-record of public speaking engagements and scientific publications.
· Comfortable and confident learning new roles, versatile, fast learner
· Strong collaboration, time management, organizational and interpersonal skills
· Ability to work as part of, and lead, cross-functional teams involving Operations, Product Management, Marketing, and Sales and effectively engage at all levels of the organization, including senior leadership.
· Ability and willingness to travel (up to 40%) as necessary, including overnight business trips
