At the University of Virginia Health, we boast a team of 18 talented pediatric RDNs, who are eager to support and train a new teammate who is passionate about pediatrics. Our RDNs are a fundamental part of our NICU, PICU, pediatric inpatient and over 15 pediatric outpatient clinics. We strive to learn, teach and mentor, and our collaboration with physicians, NPs, SLPs, pharmacists, social workers, RN care coordinators and many others helps to make our work patient-centered, progressive, and rewarding. This full-time Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) position will join our team of 18 RDNs and will be 40 hours/week in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. The RD will round with the medical team several times per week and be involved in teaching residents and precepting dietetic interns. The RD will participate in quality improvement projects.
This role includes providing specialized nutrition support for infants, children, and adolescents with complex medical needs. Candidates are encouraged to pursue advanced certification such as CNSC (Certified Nutrition Support Clinician) or CSP (Certified Specialist in Pediatric Nutrition) within two years of hire to enhance clinical expertise and professional growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides nutrition assessment, modified diet formulation, self-management training and nutrition intervention
- Complies with all regulatory standards, including federal, state and accrediting agencies
- Adheres to facility confidentiality, HIPAA regulations, and patient rights policies where applicable
- Participates in facility-wide and departmental Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement Programs
- Identifies weekly treatment goals and communicates individual client needs to treatment team
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and Registered Dietitian in accordance with the Commission on Dietetic Registration, required
- Advanced Practitioner Certification and other advance practice, preferred
- Minimum of two to three years of professional experience as a Registered Dietitian
- Licensed by the State Dietetics Licensing Board in states where applicable required
- Experience with computers and programs including Microsoft Office Suite required
