U.S. Department of Justice | Federal Bureau of Prisons Location: FCI La Tuna, Anthony, Texas
The Federal Bureau of Prisons is seeking a potential qualifiedPhysician Assistant to provide temporary medical services for the Adult in Custody (AIC) population at FCI La Tuna. This role involves working within a correctional environment to deliver comprehensive primary and emergency care.
Position Overview
- Role: Physician Assistant (Advanced Practice Provider)
- Schedule: typically Monday Wednesday.
- Hours: Maximum of 24 hours per week.
- Duration: 120 workdays per year (Base Period)
- Shift: Generally 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Care: Conduct sick calls, take medical histories, perform physical exams, and develop treatment plans.
- Diagnostics: Order and interpret laboratory tests, X-rays, and other diagnostic procedures.
- Procedures: Manage injuries via suturing, splinting, and immobilization; perform minor clinical procedures.
- Emergency Response: Provide primary care for trauma and life-saving procedures as needed.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate electronic medical records (BEMR) and review test results within 24 hours.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Health Services Administrator, Clinical Director, and other medical staff.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Licensure: Current, valid Physician Assistant license and certification.
- Certification: Current BLS (AHA) certification.
- Competency: Demonstrated clinical proficiency and current Malpractice Insurance ($1M/$3M).
- Skills: Proficiency in word processing and electronic health record systems.
- Background: Must pass a comprehensive security clearance, including NCIC check, fingerprinting, and urinalysis.
- Attire: Professional navy or black surgical scrubs (khaki and dark brown are prohibited).
