Accountant
Location: Houston, TX
Pay Rate: Starting at $25.00/hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Dean's Professional Services is actively seeking an Accountant to join a growing accounting team in Houston, Texas. This onsite, weekday opportunity offers long-term stability, competitive pay, and the chance to play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting day-to-day accounting operations within a professional, compliance-focused environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and post journal entries
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
- Reconcile general ledger and balance sheet accounts
- Maintain and manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable records
- Accurately process a high volume of AP/AR transactions in a timely manner
- Analyze variances and investigate and resolve discrepancies
- Work directly with vendors and clients to manage accounts, balances, and inquiries
- Process payments promptly and ensure proper documentation
- Respond timely to internal and external information requests
- Support the preparation of financial statements and management reports
- Assist with internal and external audits and respond to auditor requests
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company accounting policies
- Perform additional accounting duties as needed
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- 3-5 years of hands-on QuickBooks experience (required)
- Exceptional attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Ability to multitask, shift priorities, and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong time management, organizational, and communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business with an emphasis in Accounting (strongly preferred)
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects with minimal supervision
