Are you passionate about working with kids and creating positive dental experiences? Dental Associates of Savage – Children’s is looking for a Dental Assistant to join our fast-paced, fun, and supportive pediatric dental team. If you love helping little ones feel at ease and want to make a difference in their early dental health, this could be the perfect fit!
What Makes This Role Unique:
This position is focused exclusively on patients under the age of 20. You’ll work closely with our pediatric dentists and support team to provide high-quality care that’s both professional and playful. Every day is an opportunity to help young patients (and often their parents!) feel confident and comfortable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare children and teens for treatment with a calm, reassuring approach
- Select and set up appropriate instruments and materials based on each procedure
- Support the dentist through efficient 4-handed dentistry techniques
- Sterilize and maintain instruments and equipment following health regulations
- Perform non-surgical clinical tasks such as coronal polishing (if certified)
- Offer clear oral hygiene education and post-op care instructions tailored to kids
- Keep treatment rooms organized, stocked, and kid-friendly
- Assist with patient records, scheduling, and payment-related tasks when needed
Requirements:
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience working with children or in pediatric dentistry (preferred but not required)
- Strong understanding of sterilization protocols, OSHA/CDC standards, and dental instruments
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills—especially with young patients and families
- Organized, flexible, and able to adapt in a fast-moving environment
- Positive energy and a team-first attitude
Additional Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; graduation from an accredited dental assistant program preferred
- Additional certifications (e.g., coronal polishing, EFDA) are a plus
- Proficient in dental software and digital X-ray systems
