As a Catering Manager, you’ll lead the planning and execution of catered events, working closely with clients to ensure every detail exceeds expectations. From managing event logistics to coordinating with culinary and banquet teams, you'll deliver seamless experiences that drive guest satisfaction and revenue. This role is ideal for an organized, customer-focused professional with a passion for hospitality and event management.

Position Summary

The Catering Sales Manager is responsible for selling and servicing all catered events within the social and local catering market. This role focuses on driving revenue through events such as weddings, wedding-related functions, holiday parties, corporate celebrations, and local meetings, while delivering exceptional service from initial inquiry through event execution. The Catering Sales Manager acts as the primary liaison between the client and hotel operations to ensure seamless planning and successful event outcomes.

Job Responsibilities

  • Actively solicit, sell, and service all catered events within the social and local catering markets, including weddings and wedding-related functions, holiday parties, corporate celebrations, patio events, board meetings, trainings, and other local meetings
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients from initial inquiry through event execution, ensuring a high level of service and attention to detail
  • Respond promptly to catering inquiries, conduct site inspections, and create customized proposals and contracts that align with client needs and hotel guidelines
  • Effectively sell hotel event space, including ballroom, boardrooms and outdoor patio optimizing space utilization and catering revenue
  • Negotiate event details such as space, menus, pricing, and concessions in accordance with established revenue goals and standards
  • Prepare, distribute, and manage accurate Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), ensuring clear communication with Hotel Operations teams
  • Coordinate with internal departments to ensure seamless execution of all catered events, including small meetings and large-scale social functions
  • Maintain accurate event details, forecasts, and revenue tracking in the hotel’s sales and catering systems
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local businesses, community partners, and event planners to drive repeat local catering business
  • Actively prospect for new local catering opportunities, including meetings, corporate events, and social functions
  • Participate in site tours, networking events, and promotional activities to increase awareness of the hotel’s catering offerings
  • Conduct post-event follow-up to ensure client satisfaction, resolve any concerns, and encourage repeat and referral business
  • Consistently meet or exceed assigned catering revenue and performance goals

Education & Experience

  • Minimum of 2–3 years of catering sales, event sales, or hotel sales experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of catering operations, food & beverage service, and event logistics
  • Proven ability to sell, negotiate, and close social and catering business
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously
  • Professional, service-oriented demeanor with a passion for hospitality
  • Proficiency with sales and catering systems (CI/TY, LightSpeed or similar preferred)
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed for events
