Job DescriptionLHH has partnered with a great company who is looking for their next Staff Accountant in Portland, OR!
About the Role:
This position is for a proactive and detail-oriented accounting professional to support the finance operations. This role focuses on general ledger activities, trust accounting, and month-end close processes. You’ll also manage company credit cards, assist with accounts payable, and contribute to process improvements alongside the Controller.
Key Responsibilities:

Manage the full accounts payable cycle, including vendor communication and issue resolution.

Assist with general ledger entries and the month-end close process.

Oversee firm credit card accounts and reconcile receipts monthly.

Support year-end tax preparation, including 1099 form processing.

Reconcile bank statements and investigate discrepancies.

Respond to inquiries from colleagues, vendors, and clients regarding accounting procedures and account details.

Recommend improvements to accounting processes and internal controls.

Provide backup support for Accounts Receivable and Payroll functions.

Participate in special projects and research as needed.

Foster a collaborative and cooperative team environment.
Qualifications:

5+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience (3+ years in a law firm or time/billing environment preferred).

Strong understanding of A/P, A/R, and G/L accounting and reporting.

Proficiency in accounting software (LSS experience a plus) and intermediate Excel skills.

Excellent communication and analytical problem-solving abilities.

High attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and meet deadlines consistently.
