Job DescriptionJob Summary – RN MedSurg/Tele
- Work in a large, academic Level 1 trauma center with 885 beds.
- Care for patients in a 10-bed unit (average census 8) specializing in:
- Renal/Pancreatic Transplants (donors & recipients)
- Gynecological & Surgical Oncology
- Urology, Colorectal, Bariatric/Minimally Invasive Surgeries
- Maintain patient ratios of RN: 1:4-5 and CNA: 1:10.
- Requires minimum 2 years of recent MedSurg/Tele experience.
- Accepts first-time travelers based on experience.
- Provide care for complex post-op and oncology patients, including:
- Trach care
- Chest tube management
- PIV starts
- PCA & surgical drains
- Wound care
- Administration of specific drips (Rituxan, thymoglobulin, neostigmine)
- Must hold and maintain BLS, ACLS, and (per resource team) NIHSS certifications.
- Use Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell med dispensing, Philips monitors, and ON-Q pumps.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team (CNA, charge nurse, phlebotomy, physicians, RT, and telemetry tech).
- Supportive unit culture focusing on teamwork and flexibility.
- Float first within the cancer center, then to other med-surg units as needed (emergency only).
- Orientation includes NEO and 1 day on the unit.
- Wear royal blue scrubs; free onsite parking available.
