Special Education Teacher – Early Intervention (Birth to 3)

Description
We are seeking passionate and dedicated Special Education Teachers to provide early intervention services to infants and toddlers (birth to 3 years old) with developmental delays or disabilities. The ideal candidate will deliver high-quality, family-centered, and individualized services in the child's natural environment (home or community setting) in accordance with the New York State Early Intervention Program (EIP) guidelines.
Responsibilities

Conduct developmental assessments using standardized tools and clinical observations.

Develop and implement Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) in collaboration with families and a multidisciplinary team.

Provide special instruction to promote developmental progress in cognitive, communication, social-emotional, motor, and adaptive areas.

Coach families and caregivers on strategies to support the child's learning during daily routines.

Maintain accurate documentation, including session notes, progress reports, and service logs, in compliance with EIP and agency requirements.

Participate in team meetings, case reviews, and ongoing professional development.

Collaborate with related service providers (OT, PT, SLP, Service Coordinators) to ensure coordinated care.
Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Special Education (required)

Candidates with an Internship Certificate may also apply

NYS certification in Special Education (Students with Disabilities Birth–Grade 2 or equivalent).

Authorization as a Special Instructor with the NYC Early Intervention Program (or eligible).

Prior experience working with children ages 0–3, especially in home-based or community settings.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to engage effectively with families from diverse backgrounds.

Bilingual (especially Spanish, Mandarin, or Cantonese) is a plus.

Services are typically delivered in homes, childcare settings, or other natural environments within NYC's five boroughs.

Flexible schedules are available (part-time, per diem, or full-time).
