Our entrepreneurial spirit is what has allowed us — and will continue to allow us — to grow. The result? Inspired people, amazing designs, and projects with purpose.

Job Description

Join Olsson's Federal Engineering & Design Team as a Project Manager III, where you'll lead multidisciplinary teams in delivering high-impact infrastructure projects for federal clients. You'll oversee planning, design, and construction support for mission-critical facilities including military bases, VA campuses, and other government installations. These projects demand technical excellence, regulatory precision, and collaborative leadership—and you'll be at the center of it all.

As a Project Manager, you'll manage scope, schedule, budget, and quality across complex civil and vertical construction engineering efforts. You'll work closely with multi-discipline teams as well as federal stakeholders—to ensure compliance with UFC, DoD, VA, and other federal standards. Your role will span from early concept development through final delivery, guiding teams and clients toward successful outcomes.

You'll also contribute to proposal development and help shape best practices that elevate our federal design capabilities. This is a chance to lead projects that serve national interests and make a lasting impact on communities across the country.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A minimum of eight years of project experience in the Architecture, Engineering, or Construction industry with increasing responsibility.
  • Proven success managing multidisciplinary teams and delivering federal projects for agencies such as DoD and VA.
  • Strong understanding of federal design standards, acquisition processes, contract requirements, and project financials.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • High-level proficiency in client service, negotiation, and decision-making.
  • Ability to navigate complex regulatory environments with precision and integrity.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced settings and exceed client expectations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to mentoring and team development.
  • Deep understanding of consulting business operations and a drive to contribute to firm-wide success.

Responsibilities

  • Lead full lifecycle project management for federal projects, including those for military installations, VA campuses, and other government facilities.
  • Define project scopes, schedules, and budgets in collaboration with technical teams, and oversee execution to ensure financial success and timely delivery.
  • Assemble and manage multidisciplinary teams, aligning technical expertise with project goals and federal requirements.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with clients and stakeholders, ensuring compliance with UFC, DoD, VA, and other applicable federal standards.
  • Manage contracts, change orders, and risk mitigation strategies to minimize financial and operational impacts.
  • Oversee the preparation and delivery of technical documentation, including design plans, specifications, cost estimates, and federal RFP responses.
  • Lead design reviews and implement quality assurance plans to meet client expectations and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain organized project records, including correspondence, design files, and performance documentation.
  • Cultivate strong client relationships through proactive communication and exceptional service to support future opportunities.
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to process improvements that enhance project delivery and team performance.

Why Join Us

  • Contribute to projects that serve national interests and make a difference in communities.
  • Enjoy flexible work arrangements, including remote options, to support your work-life balance.
  • Thrive in a supportive culture that values professional development and teamwork.

At Olsson, your expertise drives progress on projects that matter. If you're passionate about federal civil engineering and ready to elevate your career, we want to hear from you.
