Job Description
Industrial Maintenance Mechanic – Precision Grinding Equipment
Schedule: Full-Time | 1st Shift (7:00am – 3:30pm)
Overtime available + alternating Saturdays (6:00am – 12:00pm)
Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Industrial Maintenance Mechanic with experience in precision grinding equipment, machine shops, or tool room environments.
This role is ideal for someone who can troubleshoot, rebuild, and maintain legacy machinery, including fabricating or modifying parts that are no longer available. You’ll work independently on complex repairs and play a key role in keeping critical production equipment running.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Diagnose and repair complex mechanical issues on production equipment (gearboxes, pumps, conveyors, presses, hydraulic & pneumatic systems)
- Perform precision mechanical work (shaft alignment, bearing installs, balancing, tight-tolerance repairs)
- Maintain and rebuild legacy/older machines, including custom fabrication or part modification
- Lead major repairs, equipment overhauls, and downtime troubleshooting
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement long-term fixes
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and manuals
- Partner with operations and engineering to improve equipment reliability
- Document work and repairs in CMMS
What Sets This Role Apart
- Work on older precision grinding equipment — not just parts swapping
- Opportunity to use manual machining skills (mills, surface grinders, presses)
- High-impact role requiring true mechanical skill and problem-solving
- Involvement in fabrication and custom part creation
What We’re Looking For
- 5–8+ years of industrial mechanical maintenance experience
- Strong background in machine shop or tool room environments
- Experience with manual machining equipment (mills, grinders, etc.)
- Ability to fabricate, modify, or repair parts for legacy equipment
- Solid knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems
- Comfortable working independently and handling complex repairs
Additional Skills (Preferred)
- Welding and basic fabrication
- Precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, etc.)
- Experience mentoring or leading junior mechanics
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Industrial / machine shop environment (noise, dust, moving equipment, temperature changes)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work in confined or elevated spaces
