Summary
Family Tree Ministry is seeking a dedicated and passionate Lead Teacher who feels genuinely called to work with young children. This role is ideal for someone who loves teaching, values intentional Christian education, and desires to make a lasting impact in the lives of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Our Lead Teachers create nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environments rooted in biblical principles.

The Lead Teacher will guide classroom instruction, support spiritual and academic growth, collaborate with team members, and ensure a safe, high-quality environment that reflects the mission and excellence of Family Tree Ministry.
Duties
Lead Teacher – Key Responsibilities
- Lead the classroom with confidence and create a warm, nurturing, faith-based learning environment.
- Plan and teach engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons for preschoolers.
- Integrate Christian values and positive character development into daily activities.
- Maintain a safe, clean, organized classroom and uphold high standards of care and education.
- Work closely with assistant teachers and support staff to share responsibilities and keep the classroom running smoothly.
- Delegate tasks clearly and help guide and support assistant teachers.
- Build strong relationships with families through clear communication and regular updates through bright wheel app.
- Observe and track each child’s development and needs.
- Follow all program policies, safety guidelines, and state requirements.
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development.
Requirements
Requirements
- Experience working with young children in a preschool or early childhood setting.
- Passion for teaching and a genuine calling to work with children.
- Strong understanding of child development and best practices in early learning.
- Preferred: Degree or coursework in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
- Familiarity with Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards (CT ELDS).
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn CT Documentation Observation for Teaching System (DOTS) assessments and frameworks.
- Ability to lead a classroom with confidence, organization, and professionalism.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining a safe and nurturing environment.
- Willingness to uphold and reflect the mission and values of Family Tree Ministry.
Nice To Haves
- Current CPR First Aid certification.
- Additional training in early childhood, special education, or child development.
- Experience serving or volunteering in your church’s children’s ministry program.
- Training in trauma-informed care, behavior guidance, or positive discipline.
- Familiarity with faith-based education or Christian curriculum.
- Continuing education credits (ECE) or willingness to pursue them.
