Position Overview

The Automotive EHS Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all environmental, health, and safety programs within the facility. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while promoting a strong safety culture to protect employees, contractors, and the environment. The EHS Manager works closely with leadership, production, and maintenance teams to reduce risks, drive continuous improvement, and support operational excellence in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage EHS policies, procedures, and programs that comply with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other applicable regulations.

  • Lead safety audits, risk assessments, incident investigations, and corrective action planning.

  • Partner with plant leadership to maintain ISO 14001 / ISO 45001 certifications (or equivalent).

  • Conduct regular EHS training for employees, supervisors, and contractors.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing workplace hazards and environmental impact.

  • Monitor environmental compliance including air emissions, hazardous waste, wastewater, and chemical storage.

  • Prepare and submit required EHS reports to regulatory agencies and corporate leadership.

  • Lead emergency response planning, drills, and coordination with local agencies.

  • Promote a strong safety culture by engaging employees at all levels of the organization.

  • Stay current on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in automotive safety and environmental management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field.

  • 5+ years of EHS experience in automotive or manufacturing (managerial experience preferred).

  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations; experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.

  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful EHS programs.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills across all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and drive corrective actions.

  • Certification(s) such as CSP, CHMM, or CIH preferred.
