Case Manager (Housing)
Hybrid Remote/In-Person Full-Time Position in multiple locations (Non-Exempt)
Reports To: Supervising Case Manager (Housing)

Ruby's Place dba Restorative Pathways (RP) is an innovative nonprofit committed to ending domestic violence, human trafficking, and violent crime through hope, advocacy and connection. Our services include emergency shelter, transitional housing, rental subsidies, mental health services, and wrap around services. All our services are trauma-sensitive and client-centered and are provided at no cost to our clients. There are no barriers to participate in our programs.

You are committed to supporting survivors and individuals impacted by incarceration in obtaining access to transitional and permanent housing. You are a go-getter who enjoys fast paced environments. You are collaborative, resourceful, and highly organized, with the ability to balance outreach, case coordination, and advocacy. You are able to build trust with clients navigating complex barriers while also partnering effectively with landlords, community agencies, and re-entry service providers. You are adept at time management and highly organized with a proven ability to ensure you can meet deadlines, plan, organize and execute.
What other qualifications are required for this position?
You Are Also:
- Someone with a Bachelors Degree in Social Services or three years of experience with re-entry population or in a related field
- Familiar with local housing resources, re-entry programs, workforce development and legal services.
- Someone with at least two years of experience in housing case management, crisis intervention,
and/or peer counseling.
- Experienced in a domestic violence, human trafficking and/or homeless setting providing direct services.
- Understanding of the dynamics of trauma informed care, as well as an understanding of, and sensitivity to, serving diverse populations as it relates to family dynamics and other aspects of cultural practice.
- Flexible, proactive and open to learning.
- Knowledgeable of community resources, community-based organizations, social services, and specifically housing agencies and programs that offer services to our clients.
- In possession of the state mandated 40-hour Domestic Violence and Human Trafficking counselor certification (this can be scheduled after hire).
- In possession of a valid CA driver's license, proof of insurance, and be approved by RP insurance as a driver in order to drive agency vehicles. If a staff member cannot be approved by Rubys Place insurance as a driver, employment might not be able to continue. Instances where staff cannot be approved to drive will be reviewed on a case by case basis to determine if employment can continue in their role without driving agency vehicles. Items considered include but are not limited to: the shift the staff member holds and the frequency/necessity of driving during that shift, the amount of time before the staff member may be approved to drive by the insurance carrier, the availability of other staff on site to drive agency vehicles as program needs require, etc.
- Able to complete a background check, fingerprinting (Live Scan), and completion of all Community Care Licensing requirement documents. Able to meet all licensing requirements of Community Care Licensing.
What You Will Do
The anticipated start date for this position is October 2025. The purpose of the Case Manager position is to support survivors of Domestic Violence and Human Trafficking to access and provide referral services to transitional and permanent housing. The Case Manager helps each client develop and implement an individualized case management plan designed to promote independence and self-sufficiency.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist clients with housing search and rental assistance.
- Attend move-ins/Lease signings whenever possible.
- Develop landlord relationships for the purpose of acquiring housing for clients.
- Advocate on behalf of clients with landlords to resolve conflicts.
- Submit Check Requests for approval and processing regarding client rents, expenses and more.
- Case Management tracking of clients and services utilizing Case Management tracking spreadsheet, Apricot database, Service Provision forms, expenses and rent payments.
- Provide reports related to client victimization.
- Conduct phone screenings, and TVIT screenings.
- Provide rent adjustment notices to clients.
- Collaborate with other RP divisions and partner with outside resources to develop client base.
- Provide case management including the development of action/service plans for clients, advocacy, information and referrals to community service providers (of food, employment, legal gift cards, furniture, dental, credit repair, assistance with budgeting, home visits, and more.
- Transport clients in agency van to housing, legal, social services and other case management related appointments as needed to assure client success.
- Provide confidential, holistic, client-centered, trauma-informed services.
- Provide individual crisis intervention and peer counseling services as needed.
- Attend weekly case conference meetings at the shelter.
- Maintain accurate client files and records that document performance targets and outcomes on online reporting platform.
- Fill out a functional timesheet by assigned due dates in compliance with the time allocations.
- Actively participate in reflective supervision.
- Create and maintain documentation of processes and procedures in relation to duties of the job.
- Provide monthly reports.
- Attend on-going education and trainings: 2-3 trainings per year.
- Other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Working Conditions
This position is eligible for hybrid in person & remote work. Time spent on-site versus remote working will be discussed and agreed upon with your supervisor. You are expected to be availableon-site as necessary given business needs. You must be able to stand for long periods of time and perform physical activities, including lifting up to 25 pounds. You will be subject to frequent interruptions and must be able to multitask and handle stress.
Local travel in the greater Bay Area may be required.
