Position Summary
We are looking for a dependable and efficient Prep Cook to join our catering commissary team. This role supports bulk food production while maintaining strong organization and strict adherence to food safety and kosher kitchen standards. The position requires flexibility to work between two commissary locations, situated within 10 minutes of each other between Roslindale and Hyde Park. The ideal candidate is comfortable rotating between both sites on an as-needed basis, with schedules that may fluctuate depending on operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare large quantities of food according to recipes and production sheets
- Execute knife work, portioning, batch cooking, and ingredient prep with consistency
- Follow FIFO, proper labeling, and organized storage procedures
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, and efficient workstation
- Assist with packing and staging food for off-site events
- Work collaboratively with chefs and production team
Requirements
- 2+ years of kitchen or catering production experience preferred
- Basic knowledge of kosher kitchen practices required (separation of meat/dairy, proper storage, avoiding cross-contamination)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
- ServSafe certification & food allergen preferred (or willingness to obtain)
