The Construction Technician is responsible for performing highly physical tasks on the hardscape installation team. This position operates a variety of hand and power tools, cleans and prepares sites, dig trenches, cleans up debris and removes waste materials. The Construction Technician may assist other craft workers and Foremen.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Performing landscape, maintenance, and/or construction tasks on outdoor projects and worksites as assigned.
• Maintaining a clean worksite; picking up all tools and equipment and secure job site each day in order to eliminate potential hazards.
• Comply and ensure proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed, bring problems to the attention of co-workers and Foremen.
• Hands-on work required with team members to complete projects, including loading trucks, hauling materials, and operating landscape equipment and machinery.
• Perform opening and closing duties.
• Participate on the Snow Operations team as needed. Often requires hours outside of normal schedule.
• Performing other work-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

• Must possess or be able to obtain a valid and appropriate state driver’s license prior to employment.
• Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work.
• Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in heavy/highway construction work.
• Knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions.
• Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
• Ability to lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
• Understand proper equipment and tools safety.
• Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
• A bilingual candidate is a plus.

Physical Demands and Work EnvironmentWork Environment: Regularly works around moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity. Noise level is often loud. Physical Demands: Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina. Must be able to see near and far and have strong peripheral vision and focus. Excellent stamina is required.
