Environmental company is seeking a Logistics Supervisor to oversee driver operations, ensuring the safe and efficient movement of products. This role is crucial in managing driver hours, vehicle availability, and ensuring all scheduled trips are completed on time. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in logistics coordination, particularly in port operations and intermodal transportation.
Schedule is Monday- Friday
Dayshift hours starting at 6AM or 7AM
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor the alert screen to track trips and driver performance.
Document and report any unusual incidents with drivers or participants.
Manage vehicle availability and routing to ensure optimal efficiency.
Ensure all trips are assigned and accounted for, preventing any unassigned runs.
Prioritize routes effectively, ensuring all Priority A trips are covered.
Adjust trip schedules as needed and ensure accurate trip records.
Track driver availability and end-of-day duties to maintain workflow.
Prepare for upcoming schedules, reviewing trips for the next shift.
Cancel incomplete trips and follow up with affected participants.
Liaise between the transportation department and center staff, providing timely updates.
Coordinate with contracted transportation services, working closely with the Service Manager, Operations Manager, and HR.
Maintain and update participant profiles and scheduling information within the transportation hub.
Stay current with routing and scheduling software, attending educational programs as needed.
Ensure compliance with company policies, safety procedures, and training requirements.
Promote a professional, customer-focused environment, addressing internal and external concerns promptly.
Support other operational tasks as needed in a positive and proactive manner.
Port & Freight Coordination Responsibilities:
Coordinate bookings and appointments at the Port of Los Angeles for inbound and outbound freight.
Communicate with Steamship Lines and port terminals to resolve shipment-related issues.
Plan and execute dual transactions at LA/LB ports to maximize driver productivity.
Review yard reports, ensuring container terminations occur before the last free day.
Collaborate with dispatchers and office staff to optimize daily truck routes.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with drivers and port personnel to manage last-minute schedule changes.
Oversee container booking schedules, working closely with outsourced container hauling companies.
Answer phones professionally and assist in other company operations as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
2+ years of experience in dispatching/logistics coordination, specifically with LA seaports.
Import/export experience is required.
Proficiency in Excel and MS Office Suite.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to multitask under pressure.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to prioritize workload in a high-paced, high-stress environment.
Team-oriented mindset with strong coaching and mentoring skills.
Intermodal experience is a plus.
Must be flexible with occasional evening and weekend work as needed.
