Job Title: Staff Accountant
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Staff Accountant who will be responsible for applying fees and commission cash receipts across multiple entities, addressing inquiries from stakeholders, and partnering with team members to develop process efficiencies. The ideal candidate will create and maintain relationships with stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely cash receipt application, prepare journal entries, manage money moves, payments, and billing, and analyze general ledger accounts. The role also involves preparing and analyzing various accounting reports, performing variation and trend analysis, and assisting with the development of accounting policies and procedures. Compliance with corporate policies and regulations is essential.
Responsibilities
- Apply fees and commission cash receipts across multiple entities.
- Address inquiries from stakeholders across multiple lines of business.
- Partner with team members to develop process efficiencies.
- Create and maintain relationships with stakeholders for accurate and timely cash receipt application.
- Prepare journal entries, money moves, payments, billing, and accounting reports.
- Analyze and maintain general ledger accounts and client insured records.
- Prepare and analyze accounting reports, variances, and coordinate revenue and expense accruals.
- Perform variation and trend analysis for key general ledger accounts or reports.
- Assist with the development and documentation of accounting and operating policies.
- Ensure compliance with corporate policies, carrier agreements, and statutory regulations.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in general ledger management, journal entry, cash reconciliation, cash flow analysis, and commissioning.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency with MS Excel.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Associate's degree or equivalent experience in accounting.
- 1-3 years of accounting experience.
- College degree in finance, accounting, or related discipline is a plus.
Work Environment
The position offers a hybrid or onsite work environment. The initial 4 to 8 weeks of training will be conducted in the office. As the candidate's knowledge base increases, in-office days will be reduced, transitioning to a hybrid schedule. The team works together in the office every Tuesday and every other Monday.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Urbandale, IA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00/hr.
