Job Description

Job DescriptionShape the Digital Future of a Coatings Plant

Picture your first week at PPG’s Delaware, Ohio manufacturing site: you’re on the production floor one moment, then pairing with the Manufacturing Systems Manager the next to turn raw machine signals into clear insights. In this full-time, on-site, entry-level role, you’ll help propel our 2030 Digital Roadmap—bringing Industry 4.0 to life through practical data analytics, thoughtful system integration, and modern software tools.

What your days look like

You start by pulling data from several sources, transforming it into accurate operational and performance reports that plant leaders rely on. You dive into a quirky SQL query that needs troubleshooting, refine a dashboard, and capture end-user feedback to iterate again. Throughout, you apply programming fundamentals to streamline workflows and strengthen real-world manufacturing operations.

How you’ll contribute

  • Consolidate, cleanse, analyze, and organize large datasets to deliver trustworthy, actionable reporting.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues in data reporting, SQL queries, software applications, and other digital manufacturing tools.
  • Build and enhance data systems and dashboards using languages such as C#, Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, and frameworks like Angular (19+).
  • Support integrations with relational databases (e.g., MS SQL) and leverage frameworks such as Entity Framework or Dapper.
  • Author clear technical documentation for developers and end users, making changes and system behavior easy to follow.
  • Gather, translate, and relay user feedback to drive continuous improvement across digital tools and workflows.
  • Use Azure DevOps or comparable version control and project tools to track work, manage code reviews, and collaborate effectively.

What you bring

  • Hands-on experience working with large datasets: cleaning, sorting, and analyzing.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills for manipulation and reporting.
  • Comfort with relational databases and basic SQL querying.
  • Programming experience in at least one language (object-oriented preferred) with exposure to C#, Python, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, and Angular 19+.
  • Understanding of MS SQL and development frameworks such as Entity Framework or Dapper.
  • Familiarity with structured development practices using Azure DevOps or similar version control systems.
  • Previous exposure to manufacturing environments.
