Summary:
The Shipper is responsible for ensuring the proper disbursement of received and processed goods throughout the facility. Responsible for the loading and unloading of all materials shipped to or from the facility. The quality expectations established through all stages of production should be maintained by working closely with the manufacturing and quality departments to detect and eliminate potential problems that would adversely affect product quality or receipt/disbursement timelines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Individual is expected to perform job duties safely and in compliance with documentation outlined in the Safety, Health & Environmental system.
- Follow instructions for safe handling of materials as per product Material Safety Data Sheet.
- Wears proper personal protective equipment as specified in Safety Data Sheets or work instructions.
- Attend safety meetings as scheduled.
- Individual is expected to perform job duties in compliance with defined management system requirements.
- Unload incoming trucks, vans, rail cars, etc.
- Load outgoing trucks, vans, rail cars, etc.
- Prepare shipping and receiving documents.
- Confirms and/or properly labels incoming or outgoing materials.
- Secures gaylords to skids if required.
- Confirm weights of materials as instructed.
- Transfer bulk materials from trucks or rail cars to receiving silos.
- Transport product samples to QC lab if required.
- Clean rail cars for shipment.
- Clean P/E holding tanks.
- Clean Bulk Material Transfer Systems and perform routine maintenance on same.
- Repackage customer samples or resale material.
- Prepare rail siding for rail movements. (Move pipes, draw bridge, etc.)
- Seal rail cars and bulk trucks for shipment.
- Inventory all material in Shipping Warehouse.
- Haul hose and attachments to the top of the railcar.
- Obtain samples from remote rail car siding.
- Assists in facilitating disbursements of received goods throughout facility.
- Maintains clean and safe work area and reports all hazards to Shipping Coordinator.
- Recognize deterioration in equipment and report as required.
- Understand process equipment and its function.
- Identify quality defects.
- Performs other duties and assignments as directed by Shipping Coordinator.
Preferred Experience, Training, and Skills:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Preference awarded to those with a minimum of two (2) years of continuous process industry experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the Chemical or Plastics industry. Other industry experience may be considered (i.e., pulp/paper, steel, glass, textile, food processing).
- Must possess good written and verbal skills.
- Skilled in the use of basic computer software.
- Professional attitude and ability to respond to changing priorities of the business.
- Ability to work independently, to organize, take initiative and exercise sound judgment.

Working Conditions:
- Manufacturing Environment. Must be able to work in inclement weather conditions as the position will be working outside for periods of time.
Physical Requirements:
- Walk / stand for the duration of an 8-to-12-hour shift, often covering the rail yard and facility grounds.
- Climbing stairs and ladders
- Lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Stooping/Kneeling/Bending to inspect
- Labeling boxes
- Drive forklift for up to 70% of assigned shift
