Job Summary

The role involves overseeing nuclear imaging procedures, calculating dosages of diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals, and administering adjunctive medications while utilizing various equipment and adhering to safety protocols. You will conduct high-quality nuclear medicine imaging examinations by applying advanced technical expertise, all while prioritizing patient care in line with departmental policies.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing hot lab duties and conducting a range of nuclear medicine studies for both inpatients and outpatients across all age groups, from neonates to geriatrics.
  • Understanding and complying with Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulations, practicing radiation safety, and operating all departmental cameras and equipment safely.
  • Processing and transmitting data to designated locations via computer systems.
  • Preparing, measuring, and administering radiopharmaceuticals and therapeutic doses under physician supervision.
  • Utilizing radiation detection equipment to carry out patient imaging procedures, explaining these procedures to patients, and addressing their inquiries.
  • Implementing radiation safety standards and quality assurance in daily operations while monitoring patients' conditions during imaging procedures.
  • Collecting patient data, analyzing results, and providing quality images for diagnostic purposes.
  • Depending on departmental needs, you may also be trained to perform positron emission tomography computed tomography (PETCT) scans, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of all related processes.
  • Exhibiting teamwork qualities, maintaining professionalism, and ensuring confidentiality at all times.
  • Being adaptable to changes and advancements in technology.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited School of Nuclear Medicine Technology is mandatory.
  • Certification from the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) is required.
  • For candidates in North Dakota, licensure with the North Dakota Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (MIRT) board is necessary.
  • Registration in positron emission tomography (PET) is advantageous.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 60 days of employment, with recertification as needed.
  • Must acquire and maintain department-specific competencies and certifications.
