POSITION TITLE: General Foreman

COMPENSATION: Competitive Base + DOE

BENEFITS: Standard package

LOCATION: Houston, TX

SUMMARY: The General Foreman must have a strong background in all aspects of oversight, reporting and planning/scheduling of personnel in the fabrication of ASME Sec VIII, Div 1 vessels, structural steel and process piping as well as modules containing those items plus miscellaneous equipment, instrumentation and electrical.

DUTIES OR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrate commitment to providing a Quality product that exceeds our customer’s expectations through continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Oversight of all fabrication to project completion
  • Plan and ensure execution of all phases of fabrication including the NDE testing (working closely with QC Department) required through final assembly of all products
  • Working closely with the assigned Project Manager, plan / schedule fabrication activities with Shop Foremen including all required interfaces with QC, engineering and sub-vendors, communicating all plans and updates to the assigned project planner and Fabrication Manager
  • Ensure the craft’s quality of output meets, client’s and all code requirements.
  • Plan and supervise the fabrication and assembly of proprietary equipment, non-proprietary products and modules
  • Plan, coordinate and supervise heavy lifts and movement of heavy materials using documented lift plans and contract personnel, coordinate the use of multiple mobile hydraulic cranes when loading modules
  • All lifts, movement of heavy materials and the loading of large modular units must be performed using documented lift plans and multiple mobile cranes
  • Coordinate with Contractor Supervision to ensure crafts personnel are adequately trained for the efficient completion of assigned tasks
  • Attend and observe Contractor’s daily safety meetings, reinforce company commitment to EHS&S and document any feedback of possible improvements from shop personnel
  • Monitor available fabrication materials for each project and expedite material shortages
  • Occasional use of overhead cranes and forklift
  • Monitor consumables use and inventory to ensure supplies are available as required.
  • Continuous monitoring and evaluation of contract shop personnel for adherence and compliance to established safe work practices, EHS&S requirements, expected production achievements, performance capabilities and required specifications of their assigned tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required and 10 years’ experience in supervising / managing of a Code Vessel and/or module fabrication shop OR associate’s degree with an engineering or construction background and 5 years, experience in supervising / managing of a fabrication shop
  • Strong knowledge of vessel, structural and piping fabrication and associated materials required
  • Recent experience in supervision of craftspeople (welders, fitters, helpers, etc.) required
  • Strong knowledge of lifting and rigging techniques
  • Sound logic and mathematical skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with shop personnel, engineering and management alike.English language speaking and writing capabilities are required and Spanish is optional
  • Computer skills and competency required.Must be able to use MS Office to perform daily tasks (specifically MS Outlook, Word and Excel).
  • Must be able to read, review and provide updates to project schedules.
  • Must be able to read piping, structural and vessel drawings well
  • Must be able to read and understand ADD tests, quality plans, weld procedures, PQR’s, inspection and test plans and communicate those requirements to shop personnel and ensure they follow them
  • Must have a team attitude and ensure the shop communicates well with all groups, especially QC
