1. POSITION SUMMARY

The Police Officer is responsible for enforcing federal, state, and municipal laws and ordinances; protecting life and property; preventing crime; and maintaining public order within the Town of Quinton. The officer must perform duties in compliance with departmental policy, CLEET standards, and applicable Oklahoma statutes.

2. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Patrol assigned areas to detect and deter criminal activity.

· Respond to calls for service, emergencies, and public assistance requests.

· Conduct investigations, collect evidence, and prepare detailed reports.

· Enforce traffic laws and investigate accidents.

· Serve warrants, subpoenas, and other legal documents.

· Arrest and process offenders according to Oklahoma law.

· Testify in court as required.

· Maintain proficiency with issued and approved weapons and equipment.

· Provide community-oriented policing and engage with the public professionally.

· Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical and legal standards.

3. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

· Current certification by the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET) as a peace officer.

· High school diploma or GED; higher education preferred.

· Valid Oklahoma driver’s license.

· No felony convictions or disqualifying misdemeanors under CLEET standards.

· Successful completion of background check, psychological, and medical screening.

4. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must maintain physical condition appropriate for police duties, including pursuing suspects, restraining individuals, and standing or sitting for long periods. Must meet or exceed annual firearms and defensive tactics qualification standards.

5. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

· Knowledge of Oklahoma criminal and traffic law.

· Skill in observation, decision-making, and communication.

· Ability to act calmly and professionally in stressful situations.

· Proficiency with firearms, defensive tactics, and emergency response procedures.

· Ability to complete reports accurately and maintain detailed records.

6. EQUIPMENT USED

Patrol vehicle, police radio, body-worn camera, radar, firearms, taser, handcuffs, computer systems, and other assigned equipment.
