About the Role:

As a Part-Time Lathe Machinist at MultiSource Manufacturing, you will play a critical role in producing precision components by setting up and operating lathe machines. Your work will directly impact the quality and efficiency of the manufacturing process, ensuring that parts meet exact specifications and tolerances. You will collaborate closely with engineering and quality control teams to interpret technical drawings and optimize machining processes. This role requires a strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently while adhering to safety and quality standards. Ultimately, your expertise will contribute to the successful delivery of high-quality products that meet customer and industry requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a lathe machinist or in a similar machining role within a manufacturing environment or technical program.
  • Understanding of CAD/CAM software for programming lathe machines.
  • Strong knowledge of measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; work toward technical degree preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with CNC lathe machines.
  • In-process certification in machining or CNC operation from an accredited institution.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Basic understanding of metallurgy and material properties.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate lathe machines to manufacture parts according to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Use CAD/CAM software to edit programs and simulate machining operations for efficient and accurate production.
  • Perform routine inspections and measurements using precision instruments to ensure parts meet quality standards.
  • Maintain and calibrate measuring instruments and lathe equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot machining issues and implement process improvements.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
