Accounting Manager ($85K-$120K)

Job Summary:
This role will manage the complete financial cycle of Michele’s Granola ensuring all records are accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with legal and tax standards. You will work with a broad variety of stakeholders to ensure the books are kept in a timely, accurate manner and that close is completed to standard. You will manage the cash cycle, working with stakeholders to ensure cash is managed, Vendors are paid, and customer payments are received.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Using SAP Business One, accurately record all financial transactions—including sales, purchases, and expenses
- Manage the cash cycle, ensuring vendors are paid within terms and customer receivables are accurately received and recorded. Collaborate with CEO and Controller to plan weekly and monthly cash strategy
- Collaborate with sales team for trade spend management, specifically, reconcile promotional investments, including retailer chargebacks, slotting fees, coupons, and rebates, ensuring they are correctly categorized as marketing expenses or revenue reductions. As needed, coordinate the investigation into billing discrepancies or unauthorized deductions
- Monitor raw materials, WIP, and Finished goods; calculate accurate Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) across the full scope of SKU’s
- Generate essential financial documents such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements to support management decisions. Additionally, create and maintain SKU-level and channel-level profitability reporting to assist profit optimization efforts
- Work with external services to provide all needed financial information for lending, tax preparation, and accounting support.
- Collaborate with CEO and broader finance team to ensure accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting
- Assist in budget preparation and monitoring via monthly variance analysis
- Control the company expense management process, ensuring all expenses are properly documented and recorded. To include administration of Company Credit Card via the Credit Card Portal
- Prepare payments according to the company’s treasury management process and within its treasury management system (i.e., bank portal).
Skills/Abilities:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience with modern ERP, SAP Business One preferred
- Certified Bookkeeper or Certified Public Bookkeeper preferred
- Advanced understanding of accrual-basis accounting required
- Experience with a CPG manufacturing company preferred
- Expert level MS Excel capability
- Familiarity with tax processes and requirements, specifically direct to consumer sales tax expectations and record keeping
- Ability to operate independently and exercise the initiative to solve problems with minimal guidance
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
- 5 to 7 years’ experience bookkeeping
- Experience managing books for brands scaling from boutique operations to multi-channel national distribution
