Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years Stepdown RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A rewarding opportunity is available for a skilled Registered Nurse with Stepdown experience to provide exceptional patient care during 12-hour night shifts at a well-established teaching hospital. This contract position offers a 13-week assignment starting March 23 or April 6, with guaranteed 36 hours per week and bi-weekly orientation sessions.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Active, current compact RN license required
  • Minimum of 2 years solid Stepdown nursing experience plus 1 travel contract OR 5 years solid Stepdown experience without travel history
  • Recent EPIC charting experience (checkoff class required)
  • Certifications: AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS must be attached upon application
  • Strong critical thinking and assessment skills essential
  • Proven ability to independently manage tele/12-lead EKG interpretation (travelers must pass tele tests)
  • Skilled in post-procedure cardiac care, including femoral/TR bands, and medication drip initiation/titration (e.g., Cardizem, Amiodarone, Cardene, Nitro, Insulin, Heparin)
  • Experience with neurological assessments and sepsis care

Location:
This position is based in Chandler, Indiana, serving the surrounding region with access to both Indiana and neighboring Kentucky facilities within short travel distances. Responsibilities:

  • Care for a blended unit of 19 beds (8 Stepdown and 11 Med/Surg/Telemetry beds)
  • Manage post-cardiac procedure patients including cath/stents, pacers, ICDs, and ablation recovery
  • Provide care for neurological conditions such as CVAs, seizures, and trauma cases
  • Float within skill set to nearby campuses as needed with advance notice
  • Comply with weekend and holiday shift rotations (three weekends every six-week schedule, every other holiday)
  • Precept students and new staff, supporting a teaching hospital environment

Schedule:

  • 12-hour Night Shifts (6:30 pm7:00 am)
  • Guaranteed 36 hours per week
