Job Overview
The Registered Respiratory Therapist will deliver respiratory care services across all hospital departments. Responsibilities include maintaining and monitoring mechanical ventilation, providing emergency airway management as directed, and conducting arterial/capillary blood gas sampling and analysis.
Qualifications
Required:
- Graduation from a National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) accredited program.
- Possession of the necessary knowledge and skills to deliver patient care as outlined in the Respiratory Care Practitioner scope of services.
- Ability to accurately follow instructions, organize tasks, and complete assigned work.
- Effective communication skills for collaboration with patients, visitors, and the medical team.
- Proficiency in EPIC EMR software.
Preferred:
- Two to three years of experience in adult critical care and neonatal/pediatric settings is preferred.
Certifications and Licenses Required
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Registry Eligible (CRT) as recognized by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- Active New Jersey State License to practice Respiratory Therapy.
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
Scheduling Requirements
- 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM shifts.
- Alternating weekends.
- Availability for one major summer holiday and one major winter holiday is required.
- This is a full-time position.
Essential Functions
- The Respiratory Therapist will assess and suggest modifications to therapy in accordance with established policies and procedures, collaborating with physicians and nursing staff to ensure optimal therapeutic outcomes for patients.
- This role serves as a clinical resource for nursing staff and other personnel, ensuring appropriate care is delivered within established standards.
- Additional duties may be assigned by the manager or supervisor to ensure the department operates efficiently.
