Our Buffalo Grove, IL facility specializes in precision plastics—small components, strict tolerances, and consistent quality. As an Injection Molding Tooling Setup Technician, you’ll be the catalyst that turns tooling and resin into stable, high-yield production runs on the night shift.
Your Impact
You’ll orchestrate mold installations and press startups, configure robotic take-out, and validate quality using metrology and vision systems. When defects appear—shorts, flash, splay, color variation, dimensional drift—you’ll diagnose quickly and fine-tune the process to keep parts within spec and machines performing reliably.
Core Responsibilities
- Execute mold setups/changeovers and color changes, then launch and stabilize processes.
- Adjust injection parameters and auxiliary equipment to maintain part quality and cycle times.
- Program/touch-up 5-axis and 6-axis robotic take-out and interface with automation.
- Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and vision systems; document results in SAP or similar systems.
- Perform basic PM on molds and supporting equipment.
- Maintain compliance with safety, cleanroom, and quality procedures.
What You Need to Succeed
- 2+ years of injection molding or mold setup experience.
- Hands-on expertise with setup, processing adjustments, and troubleshooting.
- Mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving ability.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for 12-hour shifts.
- Proficient with micrometers and calipers; able to read blueprints.
- Basic math and computer literacy; High school diploma or GED.
Preferred Background
- Experience in medical molding, precision plastics, or cleanroom environments.
- Work with automated take-out robots and in-mold sensors.
- Familiarity with SAP or TMS and exposure to lean/5S.
