Job DescriptionPosition Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Buyer & Planner to oversee the supply of raw materials, components, outside vendor processing, and finished goods across multiple product lines. This role is responsible for planning and purchasing material requirements while ensuring timely flow of materials to the production floor and customers.

This is a full-time, onsite position. The role will be based at our Chicago, IL facility through December 2025, after which the position will relocate to Northbrook, IL.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute material requirements planning (MRP) by collaborating closely with manufacturing and external supply chain partners.

  • Manage purchase orders and rescheduling processes to ensure on-time delivery of materials.

  • Drive inventory management programs such as Kanban, Consignment, and Just-in-Time (JIT) to improve inventory turns and delivery performance.

  • Partner with the Regulatory team to ensure compliance with federal regulations and internal quality standards.

  • Maintain accurate SAP records related to standard costs, purchase pricing, vendor performance, and other key data.

  • Manage material requirement changes resulting from Engineering Change Notifications (ECNs).

  • Provide day-to-day support to manufacturing and distribution by resolving material issues in coordination with Production Planning, Customer Care, Quality, and Suppliers.

  • Support New Product Development (NPD) teams by addressing material needs during project planning and execution.

  • Collaborate with Quality to manage material returns and initiate Supplier Corrective Actions (SCARs).

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred, or 2–3 years of equivalent experience in purchasing, planning, or materials management.

  • Working knowledge of pull systems (Kanban), JIT, and Min/Max MRP systems preferred.

  • Strong experience with ERP systems; SAP is preferred.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Professional judgment with the ability to collaborate across departments and with suppliers and customers.

  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

  • Effective interpersonal skills and a strong team-oriented approach.
