Compensation: $32.00 - $35.00 per hour
About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Receivable / Collections Specialist to join our client's growing team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has strong communication skills, and is experienced in managing customer accounts and driving collections efforts.
Experience working with high-volume, big box retailers such as Amazon, Walmart, Costco, or similar is a strong plus.
Please note that this opportunity is available immediately on an interim basis, and could develop into a more permanent role.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitored and managed aging reports to identify past due accounts
- Contacted customers via phone and email to collect outstanding balances
- Investigated and resolved billing discrepancies, short payments, and disputes
- Collaborated with sales and customer service teams to resolve account issues
- Maintained accurate records of collection activities and customer communications
- Applied cash receipts and reconciled customer accounts (as needed)
- Prepared regular reports on collection status and aging trends
- Escalated delinquent accounts, including recommending write-offs or third-party collections when appropriate
- Ensured compliance with company policies and applicable regulations
Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
- 2+ years of experience in accounts receivable and/or collections
- Strong understanding of AR processes and aging analysis
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- High attention to detail with strong organizational skills
- Ability to handle sensitive or difficult conversations with professionalism
