A position is available for a registered nurse with critical care experience to provide specialized care in a Level III Trauma Center Intensive Care Unit (ICU) specializing in medical/surgical critical care. Located in Cambridge, MA, this contract role offers an engaging and fast-paced environment with a diverse patient population including cases such as sepsis, cardiac arrest, respiratory failure, and renal failure.

Responsibilities include delivering high-quality nursing care in a 20-bed Medical ICU (MICU), managing complex adult patient cases, and collaborating closely with attending physicians and residents who are onsite 24/7. The role requires floating to medical/surgical units when needed, with patient assignments ranging from 1:1 in high acuity to 1:4 or 1:5 in med/surg areas. Competency in telemetry reading and charting with EPIC EMR is essential.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Active Massachusetts RN license
  • Minimum 2 years of continuous Adult ICU experience, preferably in a Medical ICU setting
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips accurately
  • Experience with floating to med/surg units
  • Adaptability to rotating day shifts or fixed night shifts, depending on assignment

Schedule/Hours:

  • Night shifts and every-other-weekend coverage options available
  • Floating required; shift rotations between 7a-7p, 11a-11p, or 7p-7a for day rotations, with night shifts non-rotating
