POSITION TITLE: Early Childhood Substitute Teacher

DIVISION: Early Childhood Services

SUPERVISOR: Director, Keys for Kids

CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

PURPOSE:

Assist regular staff in the implementation of developmentally appropriate practices and maintain ratio in the early childhood classrooms at Bona Vista Programs. Staff member may maintain ratio without the need of another peer after one year of service at Bona Vista’s Early Childhood center.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

1. Ensure the safety of all children in an assigned group and maintain sight and sound at all times.

1. Create a warm, clean, and accepting environment that is inclusive of all children’s needs. Provide a welcoming atmosphere for all families, volunteers, community representatives, and staff.

1. Assist teachers with creating and implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum. Ensure that activities are child led, play based, and meet fidelity requirements.

1. Abide by program philosophies on parent engagement and parent participation. Actively participate in parent engagement opportunities. Encourage families to engage in activities offered by the program that promote family well-being.

1. Appropriately communicate with families both verbally and in writing. Shares all conversations with the child’s primary caregiver in a timely manner.

1. Model appropriate language and behavior for children, volunteers, and families

1. Report any health, social, or crisis needs of the child or family to the child’s primary caregiver.

1. Attend all meetings and trainings as required to meet state and federal regulations.
