Position Summary:

The Assistant Vehicle Reconditioning Manager supports the daily operations, workflow, and performance of the vehicle reconditioning department to ensure that inventory is prepared efficiently and accurately, meeting the company's quality standards. This role partners closely with the Vehicle Reconditioning Manager, buyers, service vendors, and sales teams to support inventory readiness, control reconditioning expenses, improve turnaround times, and maintain a high standard of vehicle presentation.

The Assistant Vehicle Reconditioning Manager helps coordinate vehicle flow from acquisition through front-line readiness while supporting operational efficiency, vendor accountability, and team performance. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, process-driven, and able to thrive in a fast-paced automotive environment.

Core Responsibilities:

Operational & Workflow Management

  • Assist in overseeing daily vehicle reconditioning operations to ensure inventory is processed efficiently, accurately, and on schedule
  • Coordinate vehicle flow through inspection, mechanical repair, cosmetic repair, detailing, photography, and front-line readiness
  • Prioritize workflow based on inventory aging, sales objectives, and operational needs while proactively identifying and resolving delays or bottlenecks
  • Support inventory turn objectives by helping reduce reconditioning cycle times and improve operational efficiency
  • Collaborate with internal departments and vendors to ensure timely communication regarding vehicle status and readiness
  • Maintain accurate records related to repair orders, vendor invoices, repair approvals, and vehicle status updates

Quality Control & Vendor Coordination

  • Assist with vehicle evaluations and review reconditioning needs for acquired inventory
  • Verify completed reconditioning work meets company quality, safety, and presentation standards prior to front-line availability
  • Ensure vehicles are properly merchandised, photographed, clean, and lot-ready
  • Coordinate scheduling, communication, and accountability with vendors and third-party service providers to maintain turnaround expectations
  • Monitor vendor performance, repair quality, timeliness, and cost control while supporting approved repair guidelines

Qualifications:

  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Willing to undergo a pre-employment background screening, including a drug test for illegal substances
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle record required
  • Previous automotive reconditioning, inventory management, service operations, or dealership experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of vehicle mechanical and cosmetic repair processes
  • Experience coordinating multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational skills with close attention to detail and follow-through
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate across departments and with external vendors
  • Proficient with inventory management systems, dealership software, and Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong problem-solving, time management, and prioritization skills
  • Ability to analyze repair needs, monitor workflow, and support operational efficiency
