Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A contract opportunity is available for a skilled Visual Impairment Teacher within a school setting in Birmingham, AL. This role focuses on providing specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments, helping them achieve academic success and independence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students visual needs.
- Deliver specialized instruction in Braille, assistive technology, orientation, and mobility.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and support staff to promote inclusive learning.
- Assess students' abilities and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate updates to stakeholders.
Desired Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure in teaching students with visual impairments.
