About the Apprentice Teacher Position
The Apprentice Teacher role is a fantastic opportunity for individuals eager to explore the field of education, even if you have limited or no teaching experience. This position allows you to gain hands-on practice and the training necessary to become a successful full-time classroom teacher.
As an Apprentice Teacher, you will:
- Observe best practices in classroom instruction from experienced teachers and school leaders.
- Co-teach with teacher-leaders and provide in-house substitute teaching coverage.
- Support teachers with tutoring, grading, and individual or small group instruction.
- Potentially teach your own class, gaining direct teaching experience.
- Assist with various tasks inside and outside the classroom, including teaching Enrichment classes and organizing student events.
Through full participation in professional development and regular meetings with an instructional coach, you will have ample opportunities to refine your teaching skills. By the end of the year, you will be a strong candidate for full-time teaching positions!
Specific Responsibilities
- Teach classes on behalf of Deans and teacher-leaders.
- Provide substitute teaching coverage as needed.
- Plan and deliver instruction, gradually taking on more responsibility.
- Support students through one-on-one and small group tutoring.
- Observe Master Teachers to enhance your instructional techniques.
- Coordinate and teach Enrichment classes.
- Assist with assessments, grading, and other classroom responsibilities.
Additionally, you will perform duties expected of classroom teachers, such as:
- Implementing curricula and activities to meet academic standards.
- Designing assessments to measure student progress.
- Participating in collaborative curriculum development and school-wide events.
- Communicating effectively with students, families, and colleagues.

Compensation
The compensation for this role is $55,000.
