Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated individual to join our team as High School Special Education Aide in theSan Pedro, CA area. This role offers a chance to contribute positively to the education of students with special needs. Aptus will provide the tools, technology, and support necessary for your success and growth.


Pay Rate: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour

Location: San Pedro, CA 90731

Schedule: Full Time (School Operating Hours)

Requirements:

  • Required: High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 60 college units or an AA/AS degree preferred
  • Coursework at an accredited institution of higher education in child development, education and/or psychology is highly desirable
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Reliable Transportation



Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support to assigned student with diverse learning needs, including academic assistance and/or physical support as required.
  • Monitor and verify the completion of homework and any missing assignments.
  • Maintain a proactive and confident approach when addressing student needs and challenges.
  • Provide toileting assistance to the assigned student.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students during classroom activities and transitions.
  • Communicate effectively with teachers and other staff to coordinate support for students.
  • Foster a gentle and supportive environment for students to encourage positive behavior.
  • Maintain clear, accurate, and up-to-date records of student progress and academic performance.
  • Attend meetings and training, as scheduled
  • Performs related tasks as required.
