About the X-Ray Technician Role:
Under the direction of the Physicians, the x-ray technician is responsible for using imaging machines to create images of patients for the Physicians’ review. Their duties include explaining the x-ray procedures to patients, calibrating the equipment, and preparing the results of the x-ray.
Responsibilities:
- Greet and attend to patient needs in person and over the phone.
- Follow instructions from Physicians regarding which area of the patient’s body to x-ray
- Talk the patient through the procedure and answer their questions
- Correctly position the patient, adjust the imaging equipment to the specified position
- Prevent unnecessary radiation exposure both to themselves and to the patient
- Follow correct techniques and procedures such as patient shielding
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment
- Maintain up to date knowledge of current radiology practices.
- Utilize purchasing and inventory management software as required for purchasing and ordering supplies
- Assist with rooming and triaging patients, and other medical assistant duties as needed
Requirements:
- 1 year of Experience required; this can include internship experience
- The ability to operate and understand radiographic technology and equipment
- A Maryland state license and certification to practice
- Prior experience in orthopedics and/or sports medicine preferred
- Working knowledge of HIPAA regulations
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient service skills.
