Position Overview
McAfee Safety Analysis, Inc. (MSA) is seeking a qualified Industrial Hygienist (IH) to support a federal healthcare Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) contract. This position will provide field-based industrial hygiene services, emergency response support, and healthcare facility IAQ investigations across VA medical facilities in the region.
This role requires strong technical competency, regulatory knowledge, and the ability to respond to urgent IAQ events under strict federal compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct indoor air quality (IAQ) investigations in healthcare environments
- Perform air sampling, surface sampling, and environmental monitoring
- Respond to emergency IAQ events within required response timeframes
- Document findings and prepare detailed field reports
- Coordinate with Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) for technical review and report finalization
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, NIOSH, AIHA, ASTM, ACGIH, and applicable VA standards
- Maintain proper calibration and handling of industrial hygiene equipment
- Interface professionally with VA facility staff and federal representatives
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Occupational Safety, or related field
- 2+ years of industrial hygiene or environmental sampling experience
- Experience conducting IAQ investigations (healthcare setting preferred)
- Knowledge of AIHA-accredited laboratory coordination
- Strong technical report writing skills
- Ability to travel regionally and respond to emergency calls
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or working toward certification
- Experience with federal or VA healthcare contracts
- Experience meeting emergency response requirements (e.g., 2-hour response windows)
- Familiarity with AIHA EMLAP-accredited laboratory procedures
Work Environment
- Primarily field-based at healthcare facilities
- Occasional travel to multiple clinic locations
- May include urgent response assignments
