Job Description

Our Organization

(Staten Island, NY)

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is looking for a Vice Chair to join our dedicated team in Staten Island as we enhance Women's Health services throughout our healthcare system.

Established in 1861, our Staten Island facility is a 714-bed specialized teaching hospital situated in the most rapidly growing borough of New York City. With two expansive campuses and several community health centers and laboratories, we deliver exceptional care to residents of Staten Island, the greater New York metropolitan area, and patients from around the globe.

Staten Island combines the charm of a small town with the conveniences of a big city. It offers affordable living compared to other boroughs, diverse neighborhoods, top-notch schools, plentiful parks, vibrant cultural venues, and a flourishing food scene. The job market is robust, especially in healthcare and retail, with numerous small businesses thriving. As the third largest borough in New York City, Staten Island features a variety of neighborhoods, parks, natural landscapes, and cultural attractions. It is conveniently located just across the bridge from Brooklyn or New Jersey, and Manhattan is accessible via ferry or a short drive of less than 30 minutes.

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive patient care in Labor and Delivery, Mother-Baby, Emergency Department, inpatient consultations, and the operating room, managing both high-risk and routine obstetrics and gynecology cases.
  • Serve as a member and leader of the OB Rapid Response Team.
  • Act as the Safety Officer to ensure adherence to departmental evidence-based protocols and maintain quality metrics.
  • Collaborate effectively with residents, Advanced Care Practitioners, midwives, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

Educational Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the creation and implementation of the obstetrics and gynecology curriculum for graduate medical education.
  • Supervise and mentor residents and medical students during their clinical rotations.
  • Engage in Quality Improvement and Safety Initiatives, including simulations.
  • Participate in departmental, academic, and hospital committees.

Our organization is the largest healthcare provider and private employer in New York State, operating 28 hospitals and 1,050 outpatient facilities. We serve over thirteen million individuals annually in the New York metro area and Connecticut, supported by generous contributions from our communities. With a workforce of 104,000 employees, including over 22,000 nurses and more than 13,000 credentialed physicians, we are committed to transforming healthcare for the better.
